When is a parking garage more than just a concrete structure? When it’s a keystone to building up a community.
The Downtown Parking Garage in downtown Springfield, Ohio, was recently recognized in Parking & Mobility magazine for its role in the revitalization of the city’s downtown. D&M served as the general contractor on the project, which was completed in 2020.
The three-level structure offers 305 parking spaces, 3,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space, and an outdoor seating area. The use of recycled and locally sourced materials contributed to the project’s sustainability goals. Bright, eye-catching murals have turned the garage into a canvas for community pride.
Perhaps most impressive was the ability to deliver the project despite a last-minute, $3 million budget reduction. D&M worked closely with the design team to value engineer the design to meet the city’s
goals while reducing project costs.
