The Crescent Hill Water Treatment Plant (CHWTP) Reservoir Cleaning and Liner Replacement project began in July of 2025 and is currently scheduled to be completed in September of 2029. The Louisville Water Company project consists of draining each reservoir basin, removing and disposing of approximately 130,000 CY of water treatment residuals (WTR), demolishing the existing 800,000 SF liner system, performing concrete repairs, and installing a new liner system. Additional work includes associated site restoration, pedestrian bridge rehabilitation, and maintaining continuous operation of one basin throughout construction. As the reservoir is also a public park, the project requires continuous coordination to ensure public safety, maintain accessibility, and uphold high standards of quality throughout construction.
Work is currently focused in the North Basin, where sediment removal operations are ongoing and approximately 60% complete. We are self-performing with our coworkers removing the WTR material via heavy equipment onto a conveyor system which transfers the material out of the basin into haul trucks for disposal. The project is currently removing approximately 6,000 CY of WTR removal per week. As removal progresses, the team is coordinating upcoming concrete inspections and repair work in preparation for installation of the new liner system.
