D&M co-workers are nearing the halfway point for a significant expansion of the Jessamine Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) in Nicholasville, Kentucky. The project will increase the plant’s treatment capacity from 4.5 to 7.1 million gallons per day. The plant reached capacity in 2019, and the expansion will improve the utility’s ability to treat wastewater. It will also clear the way for further development in Nicholasville and the surrounding communities.
The project revolves around expanding and upgrading the existing plant and includes significant mechanical upgrades to 7 major plant water and sludge processes, and upgrades/modernization of the facilities electrical, instrumentation and automation systems. In addition, the project also includes construction of a new 40,000 square foot oxidation ditch, a new 100-foot diameter clarifier and a 50-foot square digester tank, along with various ancillary structures. Work began in January 2022 and is scheduled for completion by February 2024. D&M coworkers are performing all mechanical upgrades, equipment installation, utility demolition, new yard piping, as well as construction of all new concrete structures.
