The Columbus Regional Airport Authority’s new Parking Garage project is being built as a Design Build GMP Partnership between Dugan & Meyers and CK Construction. It will serve as the main parking structure for the new airport terminal currently under construction next door.
The DM/CK Partnership is both the Design Build Construction Manager and the Self-Perform Concrete Contractor. The project includes 5,375 parking spaces across 6 levels and covers 1.8 million square feet. Other features are a six-car elevator tower, a single vertical helix ramp, 8,500 sf of Office space on the first floor, surface parking, light wells to facilitate construction sequencing, an elevated exit bridge off level 3, and a connection to the new terminal pedestrian bridge off level 4.
The structure includes approximately 67,000 CYDS of concrete, 3,500 tons of rebar, 1,500,000 lbs. of PT cable, and sits on 1,900 ea rammed aggregate piers. Our garage construction sequencing, and related design decisions, were driven in part to accommodate the Terminal’s construction sequence and adjacent activities happening on 3 sides of our construction site.
